Originally from the Naples/Fort Myers area, he graduated from the University of Miami in 2008. He then received his medical degree from the University of Florida in 2013. He then pursued his general surgery residency at the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, OR. It was there where his interest in minimally and non-invasive surgery blossomed. In addition to clinical training with some of the forefathers of minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery, Dr. Siegal published many research papers focused on hernia surgery, esophageal cancer, and reflux disease. While in Portland, Dr. Siegal had the privilege of working with the same eminent endoscopic and minimally invasive surgeons as Dr. Denk, receiving some of the best training in the nation.
Following his general surgery residency, Dr. Siegal pursued a fellowship in advanced gastrointestinal, endoscopic and bariatric surgery at Penn State University where he focused on advanced surgical endoscopy. This training prepared him to build the first endoscopic bariatric program in his first position out of training, bringing procedures and techniques to a hospital system that had never been seen before, such as endoscopic gastric bypass revisions for patients seeking to lose more weight after previous bariatric surgery. As a Founding Member of the American Foregut Society, Dr. Siegal passionately contributes to and offers the premier therapies in gastroesophageal care and has had the distinct honor of hosting many American Foregut Society national webinars:
