Peter M. Denk, MD, FACS
Peter M. Denk, MD is Board Certified in General Surgery. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1997 and completed medical school at the University of Michigan Medical School in 2001. Dr. Denk specialized in General Surgery at the University of South Florida in Tampa from 2001 to 2006, and was then fortunate to obtain a Fellowship in Endoscopic and Minimally Invasive Gastrointestinal Surgery in Portland, Oregon.
While in Portland, Dr. Denk was part of the team of surgeons that performed the first NOTES Transgastric Natural Orifice Cholecystectomy (incisionless gallbladder removal through the mouth) in the United States in May of 2007.
Building on the experience of incisionless gallbladder surgery with decreased patient post-operative pain and faster recovery, Dr. Denk helped develop incisionless treatments for obesity. He has extensive experience with the ROSE (Repair of Surgery, Endolumenal) procedure and has taught the majority of surgeons performing the ROSE procedure in the USA today.
Dr. Denk performed the first Incisionless POSE (Primary Obesity Surgery, Endolumenal) in the United States in February of 2009.
Moving to Fort Myers from a 100 percent minimally invasive weight-loss surgery practice in Kentucky in August 2010, Dr. Denk is building a comprehensive Laparoscopic and Incisionless General and Bariatric Surgery Program.
Dr. Denk is currently working on improving his Spanish. He enjoys boating, scuba diving and dining in Southwest Florida. He is an avid snowboarder out West in the winter and also travels when possible.
